TORN IDENTITY (12:16)
Collage on Linen: December 2016
This series is a visual conversation I started when I was attempting to find a way to resist contour lines or outlining figures. While working with a model I hit upon the idea of using torn paper. I had to let go of making precise lines and instead let pattern and color do that work. It was an effective way to challenge my normal approach to the figure.
IN AND BETWEEN (11:16)
Ink & Watercolor on Cardboard: November 2016
This series was intended as a gestural study -- capturing motion instead of defining figures. I wanted to have a visual conversation about the space between two figures in motion.
MISSING FACES (10:16)
Pastel on Paper: October 2016
This series was a visual conversation about essentials -- what is the minimum that can be drawn and still capture personality? I have a great deal of interest in portraiture. My work tends to lean toward the psychological nature of my models rather than a photo-realistic representation of the person.

SKETCHY MODELS (9:16)
Figure Drawings: September 2016
This series is a visual conversation about working with non-professional models. Using them forces me to make quick decisions and not labor over trying to "correctly" render the figure -- the models aren't going to hold 20-minute poses. Working this way I have to scan for what I see and not what I think "should" be there. This is a fun way to work.
